GOING TO TOKYO SKY TREE? LOVE RAMEN? THIS IS IT!

https://rokurinsha.com Love Ramen? This is not a commercial for a ramen restaurant. As a matter of fact I never post anything about food because as an American in Japan ~ we usually never post anything about food or post images of our food.

It's just not an American thing. This is an Asian thing. However...

I visited Tokyo Sky Tree yesterday because my wife wanted to buy a new pair of shoes and I guess the only place to buy shoes for her was a Tokyo Sky Tree. It's a fun place to go on the weekends ~ so I said Let's Go! She also said she would buy me dinner, so...

Anyway, back to the ramen restaurant. So she does her shopping and bought a pair of shoes then we both got hungry. We proceeded to the restaurant area which is indicated on the wall map to be on the 5th floor but the restaurants are on the 6th floor. Did I read the wall map correctly? Not sure... but go to the 6th floor to find the restaurants.

We looked at all the restaurants and finally decided to eat ramen. I usually don't go crazy for ramen because between you and me ramen is ramen. That's just my thing...

We saw that there are a couple of ramen restaurants but we did not know which is best. Actually, I have no idea which is best just by looking at the restaurants. They could both be best. As an American in Japan for the past 26 years ~ I still don't know the difference between the noodles. Raman, Buckwheat Noodle, Udon, Others...

How did we decide which one to eat at? I basically looked at the customers who were in the restaurants and chose the one where they were looking happy while eating. We made the choice to eat at Rokurinsha Tokyo Solamachi. We sat down...

First thing I noticed was the atmosphere is very good. Welcoming. Friendly. The staff was very helpful and they all seemed to be happy to see us. Probably not. But They looked like they loved their jobs.

I just felt good because sometimes when a foreigner walks into a restaurant in Japan you get the feeling like it's a place where you should eat fast and get out! There are people waiting! I did not feel that way.

We ordered our ramen and one thing I noticed was the restaurant looked cool. The walls are black and felt like a cozy trendy place to be. But it was not trendy. More like traditional Japan kind of a thing.

Trendy Traditional?

The ramen came. We both ordered the same thing. It's called: Special Dip Noodle. Funny. Is the dip special or the noodles? Special Dip Noodle...

As we began to eat, fist thing I noticed was the noodles were cold. So, I thought it was OK. Not amazing. Just OK. But nothing so special as the name indicates. What's special?

The wife told me to dip the noodles into the next bowl of stuff. When you order this ~ there are more than one bowl. There are two. And so the cold noodles need to be dipped into the next bowl of what seemed to be a rich bowl of something that was so delicious and warm.

In the second bowl was the magic. The taste was so tasty. And in the second bowl was like small cut Japanese leek and some meat and other very tasty ingredients. I swished the noodle around and ate it. So amazingly good!

I am not a foodie or a food kind of otaku guy. But this ramen is the best I have ever eaten. And I have eaten a lot of ramen in Japan. But this restaurant was different.

"So, I love it! Kind of ramen..."

And I am not getting paid to write this about the restaurant. Nothing! But when I experience something great ~ I do mention it. I do not need to get paid to say this ramen is best. I will go back every chance I get.

Other things. Well, the water was good. I know that's a funny thing to say but after eating ramen I get thirsty. So, the water is important for me. It was good.

The tables were fine. A bit small but that's because I am an American eating in Japan. The seats were built for Japanese customers. I just need to lose weight.

The price was not expensive. About ¥2000. And to be honest, I can tell you they can ask for more yen if they wanted to.

It's that good. But on this day ~ my wife paid. So I can say that.

The only negative thing I can say about my experience at Rokurinsha Tokyo Solamachi is that I am not good at eating ramen at a restaurant so I asked the kind waitress to give me an adult bib. They have them and almost everything was wearing them! Fun Stuff!

My wife who is Japanese also loved the ramen. I thanked her for paying for dinner and we left with happy stomachs.
