HAPPENING NOW
I COULD NOT FIND A JOB IN JAPAN
Michael Machida Career Search Consultant Tokyo, Japan
How I started my business here in Japan is a thrilling story. I just could not find a job. I have been here in Japan well over 24 years now and have been the founder, owner, boss, and the Lead Career Search Consultant of TheJEGroup!
I looked for a job when I came to Japan and could not find one that paid the salary I deserved. I could not find a company with the best culture. I could not find a job that loved international job hunters. I could not find a job that was for English speaking people. My Japanese was terrible at the time. Go figure. I just could not find a job in Japan.
SO I WENT BACK TO AMERICA
I was heartbroken that I was not able to find a job in Japan. Now remember, I was job hunting in Japan in 1987. The internet was new. There were no job related websites at the time that was realistic in Japan. Finding a job in Japan at the time was difficult.
There was the JET program, however I did not want to work as an English Teacher in Japan. I wanted more and I had talent. Not that English Teachers don't have talent. They do. My talent was in Research & Development and Global Career Services.
I DID THE RESEARCH NEEDED
So, I did a lot of research and realized that I had a database full of people that I have met over the years and most of them were professionals. My database was started in 1985 and was full of Presidents, CEO's, Human Resources Directors, Recruitment Agency Owners, Hiring Managers, and you get the picture.
Then, I did some hardcore research and found that the Recruiters not only in America but globally only help the top 10% to 15% of people who come to them to help them find jobs.
Bingo! After a year of talking to people in America, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Canada, England, and Australia I concluded that there is a need for a company that would assist the other 85% of the people who were also looking for a new job domestically or internationally.
TheJEGroup! was founded in 1985 and formed in 1987. We decided to start a new kind of a company that not only assisted people to locate and secure new jobs but to also design a way that made it automated.
TheJEGroup! was opened up in Japan. Why Japan? Due to it's location to Asia which was the hotbed of growth and jobs that many international job hunters wanted.
You see, one perk by working with us was that we offered full visa sponsorship for job hunters who wanted to live and work globally.
WE WERE A SUCCESS!
Once word got around, we had thousands of clients who wanted to live in Japan as well as globally.
Anyway, that's how I created my own job working in my own company that I created with my vision.
Today, we are still going strong and assisting people to work domestically and overseas as well. Life is good.
